About SABLE
The Supplemental Alternative Basic Library Education (SABLE) Program is designed to provide additional resources to help library staff members who have no formal education in library science to acquire the basic knowledge and skills needed to operate or work in a library. This program is a supplement to the ABLE courses.
Upon completion of each course, residents of Idaho and Idaho library employees may request a certificate of completion from the Idaho Commission for Libraries. Another certificate of completion will be issued when the sequence of courses (e.g. the Youth Services Sequence) is completed. These supplemental courses are not tied to the completion of the ABLE courses in any way.
The SABLE program provides basic skills training and is not designed to replace university level training in library science. No college credit is offered by the State Commission for participation in the SABLE Program.
After completing each SABLE course, you have an opportunity to evaluate the lesson, and provide valuable feedback that helps us to better serve you.
